Supplemental Damping

Supplemental damping devices are effective solutions to absorb energy coming from earthquakes and winds and to mitigate damages in structures, especially high-rise buildings.

Depending on the structural configuration and the protective criteria, Perkaleh provides both internal and external damping devices.

We offer a various types of supplemental damping systems in our design:

.We follow the most advanced codes and standards such as ASCE/SEI 7 to design structures with supplemental damping systems

We also collaborate with our international colleagues and researchers to design cutting edge technologies. These technologies include Viscous-coupling dampers (VCD) and Self-centering energy dissipation (SCED) systems that have been recently developed at the University of Toronto (see the figure on the left).
